Another one bites the dust

I use Google reader, i use it a lot, so much that I am cutting down on my feeds :) takes ten times more times to read all the feeds than my mail :).
This one post on dig got me thinking....
A little background before:
How many company's have seen some form of their products being included in Windows X(*)?:
1 - Internet browser
2 - Firewall
3 - Malware remover
4 - partition software

Well, maybe more... and some of my choices are debatable, but one must think:

1 - If comes with the system why buy another product?
2 - The system provides only the basic operations for these applications

Looks like Microsoft, will be closing more Software companies: Microsoft will soon unveil free anti-virus software. This being true who will need to actually buy this software anyway? Not home users ....

Again, sure it will be a basic feature, but it is one less product that other software companies will sell...

One can argue that MS, it's only making their system more secure, which means it's not as secure as they say on each product launch, and we don't see Linux distributions (you can insert MAC os's here too) coming out with firewall/malware/anti-virus pre-installed?! That really talks a lot about these system security.

(*) x stands for 3.1,95,2000,XP,Vista all the server ones ...
PS:Lol 3 post in one day ...
