Haiku on EEE 704

Just tried Haiku OS on my desktop and on my laptop, it still needs a lot of work but is looking very good, boots very fast (like BeOS) but hardware support is missing (wireless).
But the question on my mind was: Since it boots so fast and look very lightweight... will it run on my EEE 704 pc? Currently is running Ubuntu netbook remix, with 1GB ram.
I didn't want to remove the Ubuntu on the SSD, so I just put Haiku on a flash drive.
It looks promising, it feels very good, to bad neither the wireless and the Ethernet adapter worked, maybe on the next release...

Who's got Shop?!

Now that even Windows Mobile has a App Store, it almost comes with no surprise that the new, soon to be released Ubuntu Karmic Koala, has one:

I must say, this is the first time I see a desktop operating system with this feature.
Or NOT, after all what is apt-get? Well, even Synaptic Package Manager wasn't very user friendly...
Making the system provide a group of supported applications always been the "linux way" of installing new programs, these being on official repositories, gives the users some comfort security wise. If the program is not in the repositories... then you're out of luck.
So, not really anything new to us geeks, we'll still be droping to the terminal to install our applications... But is still nice to show of this new feature.
